We have officially reached the midway point of the week – yay!
As usual, we hope this ‘Daily Noontime’ finds everyone doing well, staying safe, and thinking optimistically.
Let’s begin today’s post with the following: Mookie Betts is the best player in Major League Baseball (MLB).
Betts and the Los Angeles Dodgers won the opening game of the 2020 World Series last night, defeating the Tampa Bay Rays, 8-3. And as many noted in numerous stories this morning across the web, including Baseball America, Betts did everything last night to help the Dodgers score an impressive game one victory.
One writer believes the Rays tried to mimic the Dodgers last night – do you agree or disagree? – but should resort to their old ways, which helped them beat both the Houston Astros and New York Yankees this postseason.
But going back to Betts, along with his teammate (and pitcher) Clayton Kershaw, these Dodgers, according to one writer, look unstoppable!
The second game of the series is this evening with first pitch scheduled for 8:08 p.m.
Let’s switch gears to the New England Patriots – is it time for our hometown football team to go searching for some new wide receivers? Or do the Patriots have some talent ‘in house?’
Say what you want about the Patriots’ receiving core – again, do you want to see the team make a move? – but if there is one pass-catcher to watch this upcoming weekend, it would be George Kittle, who is the tight end for the San Francisco 49ers – he is a player Bill Belichick praised during a recent media session.
Kittle will certainly be a player to watch on Sunday, but the same could be said for quarterback Jimmy Garroppolo, who looked much better this past weekend against the Los Angeles Rams.
Alright, enough rambling from our end. Let’s dish out some more new news and links from the world wide web:
- As of now, high school football in Massachusetts is slated to kickoff next February – will that happen remains an unknown – but there seems to be some thoughts about putting a bigger emphasis on Thanksgiving contests in the future.
- Following Monday’s awful loss to the Arizona Cardinals, unnamed members of the Dallas Cowboys are sharing their thoughts on the current coaching staff. And one coach – the head coach, to be exact – is not too pleased with his players’ opinions.
- The Boston Bruins have not made any ‘big-time’ signings this offseason, but have instead gone the conservative route (it seems?) with bringing back some of their own free agents, including Karson Kuhlman.
- Athletes Unlimited announced yesterday that they will be adding lacrosse to its sports offerings with its inaugural league set to begin next July.
