An exciting three-point (83-80) victory last night over Elms College provided Newbury College men’s basketball Coach Dana Barros with his initial NCAA Division III victory.
The hard-fought win snapped an 11-game losing streak and provides the Nighthawks with momentum heading into their next few New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) tilts.
Daivon Edwards highlighted his team’s effort, netting 32 points, including the game-winning trifecta as time expired.
“I knew it was going in once it left my hand,” said Edwards via last night’s game release.
The 32 points from Edwards was a career-high. He finished the contest with six three-pointers, which is the most three-pointers he has recorded in a single-game this season.
Newbury’s Jeduan Langston concluded the contest with 24 points and nine caroms, while Devin Johnson tallied nine points off the bench.
The Nighthawks will look to continue their momentum tomorrow evening when they visit Lesley University with tip-off scheduled for 7 p.m.
