WALTHAM, Mass. – Senior Jackie Brown (Brookfield, Conn./Brookfield) and freshman Ellie Shuman (Nashua, N.H./Nashua North) each had five goals as Bentley University rolled to a 20-5 win over Franklin Pierce in a Northeast-10 women’s lacrosse game Saturday afternoon.

Both Brown and Shuman established career-highs for goals as Bentley won for the third straight time and fifth time in the last six games. The run has moved the team’s Northeast-10 record to 6-4 and 7-7 overall with two games in the regular season remaining.

Bentley scored the first two goals of the game from Brown and sophomore Erin O’Connor (Longmeadow, Mass./Longmeadow) to take a 2-0 lead after three-plus minutes. Franklin Pierce though responded by going on a 3-0 run that gave them its only lead of the afternoon. Junior Madeline Shopshire had two of the goals for the Ravens.

However, Shopshire’s goal at the 18:24 mark was the last goal Franklin Pierce scored for almost 43 minutes as Bentley scored 16 goals in a row, including 10 in a row over the rest of the first half.

Shuman had a run where she scored three of four goals and four of six, helping Bentley take a 9-3 lead with 7:05 left in the first half. Brown had three of her goals in the first half and the Falcons led 12-3 at halftime.

The Falcons scored six more in a row in the second half, featuring a man-up goal by Brown and goals by sophomores Tori Cerny (Olney, Md./Good Counsel) and Caitlin White (Irondequoit, N.Y./West Irondequoit). White’s goal with 7:07 to play made the score 18-3 and was the first of three goals she scored the rest of the way.

Nine different players in all had goals for Bentley.

With another win chalked up, the Falcons will go for four straight when they visit Merrimack on Tuesday night for a 7:00 pm game.

Worcester, Mass. (April 5) — Led by a four-goal effort by freshman midfielder Tori Russo (South Windsor, Conn./South Windsor), the Assumption College women’s lacrosse pulled away in the second half for a 14-7 home win over visiting Franklin Pierce University on Saturday afternoon at the Multi-Sport Stadium.

After a slow start to the opening half, the Hounds got on the board just 8:49 into the first as junior Camille Auger (Kennebunk, Maine/Kennebunk) scored a man-up goal on a free position shot. Junior Amy McNeil (Orange, Conn./Amity) converted a free position shot of her own just 3:09 later, marking her team-leading 28th goal of the season and the 150th of her career. Franklin Pierce answered right back though with unassisted scores by Madeline Shopshire and Lauren Beville to tie the game with 9:48 left in the opening half. Sophomore Julianna Molloy (Guilford, Conn./Guilford) put Assumption up 3-2 just 25 seconds later off an assist from McNeil as the Hounds eventually took a 6-3 lead into the halftime break as five different Hounds scored in the period. Capping the first-half scoring was sophomore Tess Anketell (Southborough, Mass./Marian), notching her fifth goal of the season off an assist from freshman Quincy Wilkins (Wilbraham, Mass./Minnechaug).

The Ravens scored first just1:23 into the second half as sophomore Nicole Beliveau scored her first goal of the game and third of the season to cut the edge down to just 6-4. Russo extended the lead back to four at 8-4 with a pair of scores to complete the hat trick, while senior Kathryn Beall (Shrewsbury, Mass./Shrewsbury) also added two goals in a 5-1 overall run for an 11-5 lead with under 20 minutes left.

After a Beliveau goal ended the Hounds run, senior Lindsay Hagerman (Scarborough, Maine/Scarborough) tallied her 22nd goal of the season off an assist from Russo, followed by free position goals from Russo and Beall to cap the Assumption scoring. FPU junior Megan Raposa accounted for the final goal of the contest with just 12 seconds left as the Hounds improved to 5-1 at home in 2014.

Freshman goalie Jaclyn Chirco (Hopkinton, Mass./Hopkinton) made 13 saves for her eighth win of the season, while junior Julia Coakley had eight stops in just under 49 minutes as she fell to 3-6.

Russo led the Hounds with four goals and one assist, along with three goals by Beall, two goals and an assist by McNeil and one goal and a game-high three assists by Hagerman. Raposa and Beliveau each scored a pair of goals for the Ravens.

For the game, the Ravens held a slight 30-27 edge in shots and forced 14 Assumption turnovers in the contest. Ground balls were even at 12-12, while Assumption held a 14-9 advantage in draw controls as senior Mary Guinee (Topsfield, Mass./Masconomet) led the team with six draws. The duo of juniors Rebecca Cann (Danvers, Mass./Danvers) and Allison Tivnan (Danvers, Mass./Danvers) each play well defensively for the Hounds, including a team-high three caused turnovers from Cann.
