NS HS LAX

By NoontimeSports.com | @NoontimeSports

Happy Marathon Monday, lacrosse fans.

Before we get to some news and notes (and links) from the past few days, allow us to unveil our first Noontime Sports Eastern Massachusetts Top 10 Polls for both boys and girls lacrosse.

Hingham secured the top spot in this week’s poll – the Harbormen enter the new week with a 4-0 record – while Xaverian Brothers checked-in second following a bounce-back win over Cohasett this past weekend. Lincoln-Sudbury secured the third position.

In the fourth position is a talented Acton-Boxborough unit that will face some interesting foes this week, including Algonquin tomorrow afternoon at 4 p.m.

Needham secured the eight position following a solid week for the Rockets, which included a hard-fought win over New Hampshire’s Bishop Guertin. Christian Bliss sealed the win with a late save.

Notre Dame Academy (Hingham) checked-in first overall in this week’s poll – they recently scored an impressive 11-6 win this afternoon over Radnor (Pennsylvania) – while Norwell and Wellesley checked-in second and third, respectively.

The Raiders recently scored an exciting 11-10 win over Walpole, thanks to a late tally with 14.3 seconds remaining by Arielle Dulamac. Additionally, Wellesley’s Anna Hereu sealed the win with a game-saving stop at the buzzer.

The Rockets checked-in fifth – they scored a 14-12 win earlier today over Duxbury.

Also, keep an eye on Westwood, which recently recorded back-to-back conference wins against Hopkinton (19-7) and Medfield (19-5). Both wins came after a one-goal setback to top-ranked Norwell.

New England High Schools: Keep Your Eyes On Hingham & Norwell

NS HS LAX

By Matt Noonan | @MattyNoonz11

If you’re a fan of the Hingham Harbormen then you couldn’t have asked for a better start to their season.

Hingham enters the new week with a 2-0 mark, thanks to wins over Catholic Memorial and St. John’s Prep (Danvers). Both wins secured them the second position in today’s BostonLax.net week two poll, which found Xaverian Brothers in the top spot, while Boston College High School secured the third position, thanks to a win over Cohasset.

Rounding out the site’s top five positions were Duxbury and Lincoln-Sudbury, checking-in fourth and fifth, respectively.

Hingham checked-in first in the Wicked Local South boys power ranking, while NorwellMarshfield, and Plymouth South secured the second, third, and fourth positions, respectively.

The Harbormen face a very interesting test on Saturday, April 13th when they host Simsbury (Conn.) at 1 p.m., and will certainly need another solid outing from Cooper Dainton, who netted four goals in his team’s win over the Eagles this past weekend.

In today’s Wicked Local South girls power rankings, Norwell secured the top spot, thanks to a 2-0 start, while Braintree, Cohasset, and Hingham checked-in second, third, and fourth, respectively.

Norwell, which returned 23 players from last year’s MIAA D2 state championship squad, has commenced its season with convincing wins over Foxboro and Westwood. The win over the Wolverines – an 8-7 victory – should provide the Clippers with some momentum heading into a week where they will face Hingham and Medfield. Both games won’t be easy.

Medfield enters the early week tilt with Norwell with a 1-0 record, thanks to a 19-4 win over Norwood last Friday. The win over the Mustangs was also the Warriors’ initial Tri-Valley League (TVL) victory, too.

The three-time defending Division 2 state champions are set to begin their title defense next Tuesday, April 4th when they visit Tri-Valley League (TVL) foe Holliston with face-off scheduled for 5:30 p.m.

Medfield High School boy’s varsity lacrosse publicized its team’s 2017 campaign today on Twitter. Not only does their schedule include some must-see local contests, but a quartet of games featuring some non-Massachusetts teams.

In addition to the non-Massachusetts contests, fans should certainly keep an eye on the Warriors two contests with Dover-Sherborn (Apr. 25th and May 17th), as well as their visit to Duxbury on May 6th.

Another game worth noting is Medfield-Beverly, which is scheduled for Thursday, May 11th at 6:30 p.m. The contest will be played at Medfield High School.
