Another week of college basketball in the Worcester area is in the books, which means it is time to unveil our eleventh Worcester Area College Basketball Association (WACBA) Women’s Honor Roll for the 2019-20 season.

Noontime Sports is proud to partner with WACBA for the seventh consecutive season to host the weekly honor roll, which will be seen every Tuesday throughout the current college basketball season. Each week, we will select a player and rookie of the week, as well as highlight various milestones, too.

Women’s Player of the Week: Temi Falayi (Assumption College | Jr. | Peabody, Mass.): Falayi averaged a double-double this week with 10.5 points and 14.5 rebounds per game while shooting 40.9 percent from the floor. Falayi helped lead her team to a 53-40 win over Saint Michael’s on Tuesday where the junior forward contributed her seventh double-double of the season with 11 points and 20 rebounds. Falayi then went into Saturday against Stonehill and recorded 10 points and a career-high 19 rebounds for her eighth double-double.

Women’s Rookie of the Week: Natasha Pacheco (Becker College | Fr. | Fairfax, Va.): Pacheco once again showed her dominance in the paint as she averaged a double-double for the week with 11.0 points and 10.0 rebounds per game in Becker victories over Elms (68-63) and Dean (60-45). The rookie further averaged 3.5 assists, 3.0 steals and 1.0 blocks per contest, all while shooting an incredible 72.7 percent from the floor. At press time, Pacheco was leading the WACBA in rebounding while ranking seventh in assists per game.


Women’s WACBA Honor Roll | Tuesday, February 18th, 2020

Cassidy Harrison (Becker College | Sr. | Foxboro, Mass.): Harrison continued her outstanding senior season, averaging 27.5 points per game for the Hawks in two Becker victories, leading her team to wins over Elms College (68-63) and Dean College (60-45). The senior team captain shot 45.2 percent from the floor and 36.8 percent from behind the arc, all while averaging 3.0 rebounds, 2.5 steals and 1.0 assists per contest.

Angelina Marazzi (Fitchburg State | Sr. | Manchester, N.H.): Marazzi averaged 23.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, two assists and one steal per contest for the Falcons in two games. She notched a season-best 30 points, four boards, two assists, and two steals in a 79-67 triumph over Dean on Tuesday before adding 17 points, five caroms and two assists in an 86-58 setback to Bridgewater State on Saturday.

Mya Mosley (Worcester State | Sr. | Worcester, Mass.): Mosley went off for 22 points per game this week as the Lancers went a perfect 2-0 in league contests. Mosley opened the week with 16 points, six assists, and five rebounds in a win over Salem State on Wednesday, before scoring 28 points with four assists, three steals, and two rebounds against MCLA on Saturday.

Melanie Presseau  (WPI | Soph.|Manchester, NH): Presseau netted a team-best 14 points off the bench, shooting 5-7 from the field, including 4-6 from behind the three-point line to boost the Engineers’ postseason aspirations with a solid 65-33 victory over visiting Wheaton this past Saturday. The sophomore spearheaded a WPI bench effort that outscored their Lyon counterparts by a jaw-dropping 41-0 margin.

Women’s Player of the Week: Megan Swords (Holy Cross | Sr. | Glen Rock, N.J.): Swords averaged a double-double for the Crusaders in a pair of games against Navy and Colgate. She tallied 12 points, nine rebounds and a pair of blocks against Navy before recording a double-double of 18 points and 11 rebounds on Saturday at Colgate, her eighth double-double of the year. Swords continues to lead the Patriot League with a field goal percentage of .559 this season.

Women’s Rookie of the Week: Natasha Pacheco (Becker College | Fr. | Fairfax, Va.): Pacheco continued to demonstrate her prowess in the paint this past week, averaging 13.0 rebounds per game with 7.7 points, 2.7 assists and 1.7 steals, all while shooting 47.1 percent from the floor. Pacheco turned in a dominant performance in Becker’s 70-58 upset over Eastern Nazarene on Saturday, pulling down a career-high 20 rebounds to go along with seven points, four assists, three steals, and a block.


Women’s WACBA Honor Roll | Tuesday, February 4th, 2020

Sierra Johnson (Anna Maria | Sr. | Brockton, Mass.): In a pair of games last week for the AMCATs, Johnson averaged 16.5 points and five rebounds. She began the past week netting 12 points while recording five rebounds and two steals against Saint Joseph’s (Maine) before tallying 21 points, five caroms, one assist, and one steal against Colby-Sawyer. 

Emme Poulin (Assumption College | Soph. | South Portland, Maine): Poulin averaged 14.5 points per game this week while shooting 50.0 percent from the floor and 53.8 percent from three. In Assumption’s win over Southern Connecticut, Poulin scored 16 points and went 6-for-12 from the field and 4-for-6 beyond the arc. Against Le Moyne, Poulin led the Hounds with 13 points and went 5-for-10 from the field and 3-for-7 from three-point land.

Harrison was at her best in Saturday’s stunning 70-58 upset over top-seeded Eastern Nazarene, scoring 20 points with five steals.

Mya Mosley (Worcester State | Sr. | Worcester, Mass.): Senior Mya Mosley led the Lancers with 19 points in Worcester State 74-62 victory over Bridgewater State. Mosley also recorded six rebounds along with two blocks and two steals in the win. 

Melanie Presseau (WPI | Jr. | Manchester, NH):  Presseau registered a team-best 13 points on 5-of-10 shooting from the floor as the Engineers collected an important 75-59 NEWMAC home victory over Coast Guard on Saturday afternoon. The junior dished out three assists, added a pair of steals and drained two 3-pointers in the triumph.
