* Despite trailing the Texas Rangers, 3-1 in the American League Championship Series, Detroit rallied to win Game 5 on Thursday to force a Game 6 on Saturday.

* The Milwaukee Brewers earned an important victory on Thursday, and tied the National League Championship Series against the St. Louis Cardinals with 4-2 win.

* Once again, New York Jets wide receiver Santonio Holmes has called out his offense, which might be what “Gang Green” needs to snap their three game losing streak.

* According to NBCs Hardball Talk, the Texas Rangers are prepared to “throw” money at New York Yankees pitcher C.C. Sabathia during the offseason.

* The Denver Broncos have apparently placed wide receiver Brandon Lloyd on the trading block and hope some team will want to initiate a trade before the deadline on Tuesday.

* Apparently NBA commissioner David Stern told the media that the league might have to cancel Christmas games, if no deal is reached by next Tuesday.

* The Chicago Cubs have indeed gotten their man, as former Boston Red Sox General Manager Theo Epstein will now be calling the shots in the Windy City.

* The Texas Rangers recorded four runs during the 11th inning, and defeated the Detroit Tigers in Game Four of the ALCS, 7-3.

* New York Giants safety Kenny Phillips was fined $20,000 by the NFL for his hit on Seattle Seahawks tight end Zach Miller last Sunday.

* According to NFL.com – Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll apparently is very intrigued about possibly having LeBron James play football.

* Red Sox designated hitter David Ortiz recently spoke with ESPN.com about Boston’s drama, as well as the possibility of joining the New York Yankees.

* According to a Yahoo! Sports report, Philadelphia Flyers fans booed a handful of rival players, who appeared in a fight against cancer public service announcement on Wednesday at their home opener against the Vancouver Canucks

Chalk up another win for the New England Patriots, who handed the New York Jets their third loss on Sunday!

Happy Columbus Day to everyone and welcome into another great edition of the Daily Noontime! Here’s the day’s headlines and news, enjoy! 

Headlines: 

* The New York Jets dropped their third game in a row on Sunday, as the New England Patriots defeated “gang green,” 27-21.

* Sunday was an emotional day for the Oakland Raiders, who rallied to defeat the Houston Texans, 25-20. Also, this was dedicated to their former owner and general manager, Al Davis.

* The Buffalo Bills dream season continued on Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles, as the home team circled the wagons and earned an important win, 31-24.

* Game One of the NLCS kicked-off with a bang, as the Milwaukee Brewers rallied to defeat to the St. Louis Cardinals, 9-6.

* According to some sources – the Green Bay Packers earned their most impressive win of the season against the Atlanta Falcons, which resulted in a 25-14 victory.

Headlines: 

* Despite losing in Detroit, the Tigers earned an impressive Game 5 win in the Bronx against the New York Yankees to clinch a spot in the American League Championship series against the Texas Rangers.

* Game 5 of the National League Divisional Series between Arizona and Milwaukee is Friday evening, however some believe the Brewers should win, especially since they’ll be playing at home.

* Game 5 of St.Louis-Philadelphia should be exciting, as Roy Halladay will oppose Chris Carpenter.

* Once again, the New York Jets cornerback Antonio Cromartie is yapping at Tom Brady, but this time – he’s asked the quarterback to throw the ball his way.

* The Boston Bruins celebrated their sixth Stanley Cup Championship on Thursday, but lost to the Philadelphia Flyers, 2-1.

* The Miami Dolphins will have a new quarterback for the rest of the season, as Chad Henne opted for shoulder surgery and won’t return to the gridiron until most likely next season.

* New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady literally ignored Antonio Cromartie‘s comments on Wednesday, as well as told the media, “I don’t care what he says about me, I really don’t.” He also admitted that he’s a great player, but didn’t respond to his ignorant comments.

* Terrell Owens apparently told the media that he’ll be ready to return to the NFL soon.
