Here’s the press release courtesy of Needham High School Athletics and Athletic Director, Micah Hauben:
On Friday, October 14th, the Needham High School Girls Volleyball program will run the 2nd annual Team Molly Ovarian Cancer Awareness Event at their home BSC match against Milton High School. “Team Molly” is an education effort, which bears the name of a brave young woman and all-star athlete, Molly Eisenberg of Lexington, Massachusetts.
In 2009, at just the age of 19, Molly lost her battle with ovarian cancer. In honor of Team Molly and in an effort to promote ovarian cancer awareness, Varsity, JV and Freshman teams from both schools will sport teal armbands and shoelaces. The “Teal Ribbon” is the nationally recognized ribbon color for awareness and support of Ovarian Cancer. Ovarian Cancer is a disease which education and awareness is critical for survival.
